Fishing now is either increadably hard or increadably easy, somewhat depending upon if you run on to a school of keepers in transition.
Beat the bank with small crankbaits one gets buck bass all day long maybe 1 or 2 keepers, maybe.
Tossing rubber for those larger ones is slow but works better on keepers.
Flats near bay mouths main lake bars, secondary points, even ledges contain keepers.
Water temp yesterday 82f,paris landing bay
No topwater bite to speak of ???? Crankbait bite can be exceptional if in the right place at the right time, fish are moving around.
Bluenchrome red eye shads, american shad, sexy chart/shad this has been hot for me strike king series 3 then 5.
Also a good Pickwick bait.
Hint if fishing is slow find or fish a new type of structure than what you are.

My signature series Capt Kens desingner bass frog came in.
For those wanting one or a clone series http://bass-frog.com/Clones.htm
For fishing with skitter legs the clone would work about as well, the dna hotlegs on this will work faster and more relistic than say the clone if using the standard type of legs.It will have a review soon of usage right now the high water has it over the pads by several feet.
#57 it is called-tomato frog from New Guinea-an attractor pattern here.Comes with a front hook and dna hotlegs, one can place a hook or double hook on rear, and can change the legs to say skitter legs.
If going the later a clone yellow poisin dart works well for me,a review soon as pads emerge,

Well last week it had risen to 58 f in a few bays and was around 358,fish were stacked on points and flats at bay mouths. Then along came rain, they said we would get like.90,we got 3.5 in,water cooled a few deg water rose, now 361 yeah its in the bushes folks, and climbing again 60 f.
Gar are crusiing the banks, bass chock full of eggs, smallmouth spawning in some main lake cuts with gravel.
So different stages available, tube baits for smallies, creature baits for smorgasboard ,all the past lasereye or chromenblue traps, swimbaits and now small white spinnerbaits, dual col or ind blades.Fish are sort of skattered and in all different stages.
Water is high, current is strong, stay safe.

Fished an ABA T out of port road sat the 16th,windy cold front.
Fish had moved a tad from first drop to points and shallow flats at or near bay mouths, and were shallow yet light in color had just got there, not been there long enough to color up.Water stained.
Rubber if one could feel the bait, and traps lazereye or ratle trap or pointer all worked in blue n chrome or american shad.
Warmest water found was 54 f.Leatherwood bay has grass several ft long in it already, other places had it just not as long or near the top, could not be viewed as water to cloudy yet near the top already in that one location.
Most of my fish were short yet did weigh in one monster of 15 in,most hit right at boat or rod tip lost several decent fish as no room to play.
Going to be a banner year with grass so early, mostly because it did not die back, winter was not severely cold.
Pondweed tips are poking thru in places back in the bays not on the main.

Lake has light stain to clear, water temp 46 f,yet warmer can be had or even colder in the backs of some bays some being spring fed are 2 deg cooler some are at 50 f.Only a few shallow bays like birdsong have real stain to them.
March some years warmer some years in like a lion, this year lilly pads are not up as yet in paris landing state park,it wont be long however as pond weed is starting to green up.Reports of some main lake grass starting up down by newjohnsonville,I was fishing the stuff in dec, never did get that cold so may take off quick.
20-25 lbs already neded to win any T.
Most bass are ten to 12 ft range meaning first drop main lake points, warm temps with rain will really spur things on this weekend. With jerkbaits ,spinnerbaits,Arig (3arm) with green shad and or green pumpkin in rubber.
Crig bushhog, flip sweetbeaver, cranks sexy shad to crome n blue in red eye lazer, and of course jerkbaits, gravel bars being a key.
Happy fishing stay safe

Soon forthcoming not advertised or paid for just plain old use by a normal person,Ive contacted several companies.
And as soon as they come in will do a normal fishing day for me with comments,Im actually fishing ABA trail again so some will be in use during T.
One of my old favorites the cap kens desingner bass frog with skitter legs will be among them, work somewhat ike a horny toad only a tad more durable legs wont be pulled off.Once one actually gets one wet all the hipe about 1 hook and up front will disappear.Cost is no more for a clone than any other frog actually less than say a top of the line one your used to.Various ways to place additional hooks will be gone over complete with how to to do your own.
The rest will be up to you-in that case of that one bait -be the frog.
I know of no other frog that will have a spawner explode on it,not just try to scare it away.

Will soon have restricted access below and above, effects more than just cumberland lake and tailwaters.
|Posted on November 25, 2012 at 5:00 PM||comments (0)|
Main lake flats and or humps still active, swimbaits or spinnerbaits around remaining grass hot still.
Average fish being caught is 16 in.What few are under 15 in are mostly spots, very dark backed as in 4 ft of water.
Often grabing something by the tail not real agressive yet bite.53f to 58f depending upon where one is at and time of day.
Most of the remaing grass is past the rr bridge and beyond south .Think green shad.

The expected fall schooling action for the most part just hasnt occurred,at least with any surface activity that can be seen. They are chasing underneath to some degree but on more slender minnows than shad.If you see several 2 -3 in minnows jump thats the sign, very subltle.
Largemouth or smallies working baits if chasing and you are near are spook, sammy, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, bladebaits, and or trap type baits the lazereye(chrome n blue) being tops.Colors from white to white chart in most hard baits.Blade baits and or spoons and inline spinner attracting everything.
Getting so hitting the topwater less.
Rubber go with the standard green pumpkin.
Smallies active first thing in the morning main lake points, other wise its bay mouths and or main lake flats for anything.
Lake is low take care stayin the channel
